This is more than our tag line. This is our Vision. We are focused on living and communicating our mission to bring the Light of Christ to all Creation. We grow and thrive and remain vital through communication, stewardship and prayer, supporting our pastors, staff, volunteers and congregational community.
"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house."
Matthew 5:14-16
We have a very active, inter-generational congregation. Most churches say all are welcome but our congregation lives it!
From the first service in 1955 in the parsonage living room to the most recent gathering, Morning Star has been a vibrant, sharing community.
Our staff, led by Pastor Chris, is ready to help with whatever is needed. The "make it happen" team includes a great team of Church Council and committee members.
Our building is just off 84th Street and Indian Hills Drive. There is something going on almost every day. Enter from the West just below the bell tower to find the Church Office and from the East under the Preschool awning to find the Preschool office.
Morning Star is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. For resources and information on mission projects see the ELCA national site
We are part of the Nebraska Synod of the ELCA. Check out their site for details on gatherings and other statewide events and programs.
Morning Star continues to partner with the Boys & Girls Westside Club to help families in need.
Morning Star has been a long time supporter of Habitat with monetary commitments to the annual builds and active volunteer teams.
Many of our projects are coordinated through our partnership with Lutheran Family Services here in Omaha. They have been a key resource in our "Welcome the Stranger" mission.
Morning Star continues our partnership with Simone and Matt Weber as they have pursued their mission of feeding body and soul.
